It is my personal position that no adult should be subjected to any involuntary procedures, whether it be forced hospitalization, drugs, or tube feeding. If it is criminally demonstrable that a person is a threat to society, then that person should go to jail. Lacking criminal liability, people should be left alone.
I believe that we are all on a spiritual journey. We are spirital beings temporarily residing in physical bodies. As such, it is up to each of us to work out our own destiny. I reject the arrogant notion that we have the right to do things “for your own good.” Am I God? Do I know what’s good for your spirit?
People kill their bodies all the time with sugar, fat, alcohol, caffiene, and drugs. We do know how to keep the body alive, but that misses the point. A live body with a dead spirit is nothing but a drain on society. (See also Karen Schiavo.)
It is up to you and the Lord to make your decisions in this life. It is not the business of your family, friends or society to force you to do or not do things. Your journey up the mountain is your own to decide; likewise the consequences are your own.
If you ask for my help, I will try to give it. Other than that, I am called to mind my own business.
